Message From Pastor Ivan Mukulu
I am Founder & Pastor of Sonrise Community Church, as well as the Assistant Director of Sonrise Children and Baby’s Home in Jinja, Uganda. I have felt called to care for vulnerable individuals, since the time I was growing up in a children's home myself. After my father and mother passed away from HIV/AIDS when I was nine years old, and my uncle passed away in that same year, my siblings and I went to live in a children's home called, "Good Shepherd's Fold" (GSF) in Jinja. My siblings, cousins, and I received the best care possible there and were able to thrive and grow. Since that time, I have also dreamed about providing the kind of love and care that I received by the grace of God in my own life to other needy Ugandans.
In August 2010, I started Sonrise Community Church ministering God’s word to the community. Given the vulnerabilities of my community, I started Sonrise Children’s Choir to help raise support for Sonrise Community Church and Sonrise Ministries in our programs, to improve the standard of education, healthcare and living conditions of vulnerable individuals within our reach. Sonrise Children’s Choir started with 13 needy Children; with one Child from Sonrise Children’s Home and the rest from Sonrise Community Church. Today the choir has 26 children. The Lord willing, the choir will travel around the world as they tell their stories of hope, and perform to our partners, friends and supporters. Please join with us in praying for this dream to become a reality for these vulnerable children of Uganda.
Sonrise Children's Choir CD, produced in 2015
In July 2015, the Sonrise Children's Choir finally made it to the studio to begin the process of making a CD for generating funds for travel to sponsoring countries to share the music God has given them. Thank you, Brenda Arnida!
That we glorify God as we serve to help raise funds to provide 60 more acres of land for the Sonrise Children's Home.
On this land, our desire is to have a school, a medical clinic for our children and the local village children (who can't afford the fees), a recreation center, a workshop training center (to teach them life and vocational skills), a bible school for ages 18-20, a pastoral training center, a chapel, a guest house for visiting teams, and agricultural lands and livestock to supply food for the homes and to sell for income.
