2011 . . .
Daniel Mugoda Awali began the Mirembe Cottage for Street Girls, after seeing the need of girls who were living on the streets of Jinja, being abused, eating out of garbage piles. Daniel took the funds he had saved to attend college and rented a small four-bedroom house and took in his first group of young girls (picture below). Today with the help of a wonderful staff of aunties and other staff, Mirembe Cottage is caring for 46 girls.
2022 . . .
Our older girls have grown into wonderful young women with those above 18 years moving from the main Mirembe Cottage to a Transition Home (rented) to continue their education.
Come visit us, and see what the Lord is doing in the lives of these wonderful young ladies.
Our purpose
To provide a safe, caring, loving, and nurturing environment where the girls can develop spiritually, physically, socially, educationally, and emotionally.
Director: Daniel Mugoda Awali

Resettled Girls
We have resettled several girls that we continue to monitor and support. As we allow Mirembe girls to make family visits when possible and on the council of our social workers, we resettle some children back with relatives. This does not relieve Mirembe of our desire to see the girls continue education so Mirembe continues providing support for education.
Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." Matthew 19:14
